Dave is a fairly recent transplant to Ventnor, NJ, having moved here with his partner Tim Hilley in the fallout of the pandemic after living most of the last four decades in Philadelphia. He is a marketing and development professional with over twenty-five years of experience, primarily in the health and human services sphere. He is a self-described “mission-driven” individual, and has gravitated toward organizations which provide services to traditionally underserved communities. His most-recent position was with Planned Parenthood, where he was proud to lead the fundraising initiatives of the South and Central New Jersey affiliates. Previously, he headed up the marketing and communications strategy for the region’s only LGBTQ health center, as it grew from operating out of two rented floors in a Philadelphia mid-rise building to its own five-story facility on Broad Street in center city.
Dave is also a community-builder, and opened a successful center city coffee bar that became the locus of the lesbian and gay community in Philadelphia for more than a decade. In addition to operating this business, he chaired an annual fundraising event which raised hundreds of thousands of dollars in his four years at the helm for HIV and LGBT causes. He was the founding president of the Sapphire Fund, a not-for-profit grantmaking organization which benefitted LGBT health and wellness causes.
He was also very active in his neighborhood community, having been president of the Friends of Columbus Square, a sporting and recreational park which partnered with the City of Philadelphia and oversaw the 3.2 million dollar renovation of that park, which was finally completed in June of 2021.
Semi-retired now, Dave works part time for the City of Ventnor in the capacity of piermaster at the Ventnor City Fishing Pier, where he continues his passion for meeting new people and learning new things every day.
